The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry
Orient of Arkansas

The Scottish Rite of Arkansas is a Masonic organization consisting of Master Masons who wish to continue to learn about the Craft of Freemasonry after the first three degrees of the Symbolic Lodge. These Scottish Rite Freemasons strive to be better men within their communities by supporting different organizations and charities. Membership within the Scottish Rite is an experience dwarfed only by membership in a Mason's Blue Lodge. Although the experience is created by each Scottish Rite Mason, the Orient of Arkansas strives to give as many opportunities for this experience to flourish and grow. Through self study opportunities and fellowship, each Scottish Rite Mason is able to find his own path forward as he ascends through the mountains and valleys of his Masonic career. It is hoped that every man who decides to take this journey will strengthen his personal faith in whatever religion he chooses to practice while making him a better citizen and a better man.

The Albert Pike Memorial Temple, also known as The Albert Pike Masonic Center, is designated a historical landmark. In 2014, after 90 years of being veiled in mystery and virtually unknown to the general public, the Albert Pike Masonic Center was opened up to the entire State of Arkansas to rent for weddings, fundraisers, non-profit organizations, the performing arts as well as many other usages. It has quickly become one of the most beautiful, majestic, versatile and affordable event venues in the State.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Albert Pike Masonic Center is the headquarters for the Masonic fraternity in Arkansas. Designed by architects George Mann and Eugene Stern, it was dedicated on May 12, 1924. Mann was considered the “dean of Arkansas architects” having designed several important Arkansas buildings, including the Arkansas State Capitol and the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs. The building is a monumental three-story structure in the Neo-Classic Revival style, lined on its front facade with nineteen Greek Ionic columns.

With seating for 774 in the auditorium, 450 in the formal dining room, and several other unique spaces, the Center is perfect for banquets, receptions, performing arts, and many other events. The building is truly an Arkansas treasure that we wish to share with everyone.

What's Going On In The Scottish Rite?

The Scottish Rite in Arkansas is preparing for a big year in 2020 as the fraternity ramps up its efforts to enhance the fraternal experience for the members it already has and extend a brotherly welcome to those looking to join its ranks.  On March 27th & 28th, many of the leaders within the Arkansas Scottish Rite will travel to St. Louis, MO for the Supreme Council's 2020 Regional Workshop. The focus of these workshops will be about the importance of "Passing The Tools of Leadership." Each Valley in Arkansas (Fayetteville, Little Rock & Jonesboro) will be hosting a spring and fall reunion this year, with each Valley's Fall Reunion being named in honor of a World War II veteran from their respective Valley that has already passed on. Since 2020 marks the 75th Anniversary of the end of Word War II, we intend to honor all of our Masonic Veterans, especially those very special World War II Veterans that helped to save our country and strengthen our fraternity.
